The Ultimate Joke

What a grand jokester; The Almighty!

We were created perfect; in God’s image.  We were placed into a world created in perfection.  Then, we were given the ability to screw up created perfection; both our’s and the world’s.

We were created significant in relation to all the rest of creation and time; but no more significant in God’s sight than any other person, animal or thing, ever.  Then, we were given the freedom to take ourselves so seriously that in our own minds, we skew up that balance in order to maintain our pitiful sense of omnipotence.

We were even given the ability to believe we are extra significant in the grand scheme of time.  Then, we were given the ability act on behalf of our own belief and thereby blind ourselves to our relative insignificance.

Alas, the ultimate joke then, is the one God played on each one of us. God gave us ourselves.
